Notes on Data Protection

The data protection statement by the Steinbeis Center of Management and Technology GmbH (hereinafter referred to as SCMT GmbH) informs users of the scope, type, and application and retraction of and inquiry about personal data associated with visiting this website.

The legal basis for this data protection is found in the German federal data protection act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG), the German telemedia act (TMG), and data protection regulations of individual federal states.

II. Handling of personal data

Personal data is information that identifies a person, that is, information that can be traced back to a person. This includes names, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers. However, even data on preferences, hobbies, and memberships and which websites someone has visited is also personal data.

The provider collects, uses, and forwards personal data only when this is legally permitted or when the user has consented to the data collection.

III. Data protection

1. Anonymous data collection

You can always visit our website without telling us who you are. When you call up the website www.scmt.com, we do not collect, save, process, or use any personal data received from you. However, for purposes of data security, some data are temporarily saved to a log file on our server and may allow identification (e.g., IP address, date, time, and files called up). This usage data is evaluated anonymously for statistical purposes regarding internal determination of users’ interests and behavior. This usage data is not used to establish a personal usage profile unless you have explicitly consented to such use. We explicitly reserve the right to evaluate the data in the event of abusive access to our website or other legal violations, which could lead to notification of law enforcement authorities. No other evaluation of your usage data or forwarding to third parties takes place. This data is used exclusively to improve our website offerings and do not allow you to be traced personally.

2. Collection and processing of personal data

Personal data is only collected when you have yourself communicated it by contact through our contact form or other e-mail communication.

We save the data you provide through the contact form, such as your name, company name, e-mail address, physical address, and fax and/or telephone number and use them for individual communication, such as responding to your queries.

If you no longer wish further communication, please contact us using the contact data listed in No. 8 or in our leagel notice.

We use the e-mail address you have provided for sending promotional offers regarding products or services or for information, if you have consented to these dispatches. You can unsubscribe from future communications at any time.

Naturally, all data that you communicate to us is treated confidentially. We never provide your data for use by others unless you have given your consent or we are required to surrender the data by the authorities or by court order. Your personal data is collected, saved, and used exclusively as allowed by this data protection statement and by legal regulations.

3. Cookies

To improve use of our website, we use what are called cookies. Cookies are small units of information that our server temporarily places on your hard drive when you visit our website. During your visit, they allow us to identify you and to match you to your customer profile. Such companies can be provided with access to personal data required for performing their activities. No other use is allowed to these companies or individuals.

5. Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service from Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies, which are text files that are saved to your computer and allow use of the website to be analyzed. The information created by the cookie regarding your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the United States and saved there. However, if IP anonymity is activated on this website, Google will first abbreviate your IP address within European Union member states or other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.

Only in exceptional cases will the entire IP address be transferred to a Google server in the United States and abbreviated there. Under contract with the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services associated with website and Internet usage for the website operator. Google does not merge the IP address transferred from your browser by Google Analytics with other data.

6. Use of Google AdWords

This website uses the online advertising program Google AdWords and its conversion tracking. The cookie for conversion tracking is set when a user clicks on an advertisement placed by Google. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not for personal identification. If the user visits a specific page of this website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google can recognize that the user has clicked on the advertisement and was transferred to that page. Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies can therefore not be tracked by the websites of AdWords customers.

The information retrieved from the conversion cookies are for establishing conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have chosen conversion tracking. The customers find out the total number of users who have clicked on their advertisement and been transferred to a site equipped with conversion tracking. However, they receive no information with which users can be personally identified. Users who do not want to take part in tracking can easily deactivate the Google conversion tracking cookie from their web browser’s user settings. 7. Data security

We make our best effort to keep your data secure under applicable data protection legislation. However, please note that no electronic communication is completely secure and that data transfer on the Internet (such as when communicating by e-mail) can be subject to security leaks. Therefore, perfect data protection from third-party access is not possible. This means that any data and information that you voluntarily send to us may be illegally collected by a third party. We can assume no responsibility or liability for disclosure of information due to errors and/or unauthorized access by third parties during data transfer.

8. Information on saved data

According to the German federal data protection law, you have the right to information that is free of charge about your saved data and the right to have this data corrected, blocked, or deleted. Furthermore, you can send us requests for information, blocking, deletion, or correction regarding your personal data and for revocation of any consent granted, as well as suggestions, by e-mail, fax, or mail.
